Restore the deep shine and clarity of your vehicle’s paint by removing swirls, scratches, and other imperfections.
Paint correction is a meticulous process that eliminates surface defects like swirls, scratches, oxidation, and water spots to bring out the flawless gloss and clarity in your paintwork. Whether you’re maintaining a daily driver or restoring a classic ride, we’ll make your vehicle look better than new.
Using professional-grade compounds, pads, and machine polishers, we carefully refine the paint surface, removing imperfections without compromising the integrity of the clear coat. This ensures the best results while preserving your vehicle’s finish for the long haul.
Why does this matter? Improper polishing can diminish and damage the clear coat, requiring repainting the affected areas. That’s why Wash That Auto Detailing is Richmond’s trusted choice for paint correction—we take a precise, careful approach to every job.
Before we begin, we assess your vehicle’s condition and tailor our process to achieve optimal results. Whether you’re preparing for a car show, resale, or just want to drive a stunning ride, we have the expertise to make it happen.
For even more stunning results, you can have your vehicle ceramic coated for more gloss and a durable layer of protection that will last for years.
Quality results start with a detailed, step-by-step process. Unlike high-volume shops focused on speed and getting through the most amount of vehicles, we take the time to ensure high-quality results. That’s the difference between a professional detailer and a car wash lot.
While every car is unique, here’s our general approach to delivering exceptional results:
Gentle Wash and Dry: We start by deep-cleaning the wheels and tires to remove the built up dirt, brake dust, and grime that’s accumulated on the wheel face and inner barrels. We then move to the paint and glass and remove the layer of dirt or road grime. Every step we work on is to remove and cleanse the paint for future steps.
Clay Bar and Iron Decontamination: The wash was to remove the loose dirt and grime that’s on your vehicle. A clay bar treatment lifts the embedded contaminants that’s stuck on your paint that can’t be removed during the wash process. Following this same step, we then do an iron remover that dissolves iron fallout particles from your paint and glass. After this step, the paint and glass should be smooth to the touch.
Paint Inspection and Test Spot: We don’t just start buffing away at your paint without having a proper game plan. We evaluate the paint’s condition, use a paint thickness gauge to get a check on the integrity of the paint, and then do multiple test spots to find the winning combination to deliver the results you want.
Remove The Imperfections: Now we’re getting to the part where your paint starts to really transform. Using specialty pads, compounds, and polishers, we remove imperfections like swirls, scratches, and waterspots to restore a mirror-like finish back to the paint. The process is customized based on your vehicle’s condition and goals. We can spend two full days on removing the imperfections if that’s the level you want us to take it too.
Apply a Protective Sealant: Once we’re done polishing, we seal the paint with either a paint sealant (which lasts up to six months) or a ceramic coating (that lasts several years).
Final Touch-ups: We complete the detail by dressing the tires and trim, cleaning the glass and mirrors, and wiping down the door jambs.
This thorough process delivers outstanding results while maintaining the longevity and value of your vehicle. Whether you want to make a massive transformation on your vehicle or you just want to give it a light refresh for the Spring time, we can take proper care of your vehicle.
We’re also mobile-based, so we bring the quality services right to your home or office location! This makes taking care of your vehicle even easier as you don’t have to worry about traffic or dropping off your vehicle somewhere.
We service Richmond and surrounding areas like Rosenberg, Sugar Land, Katy, Missouri City, Cinco Ranch, Aliana and more!
Pricing depends on your vehicle’s size and condition. Even two cars of the same make and model will require different levels of time and effort due to varying conditions and what you’d like to achieve.
For example, a small coupe with deep scratches will take more work than a larger SUV with only minor swirls. Here’s a general pricing breakdown:

We offer several levels of paint correction and polishing based on your car’s needs and budget:
All-in-One: This is the most entry-level service we offer for polishing paint. This isn’t meant to have a massive transformation on your paint like the other two services, but it is going to clean up and gloss up your paint while leaving a layer of protection.
One-Step Polish: The next step up in services is the one-step polish. The goal of this service is to remove around 50-60% of imperfections for a high-gloss finish. This can be an all-around great service for most vehicles but there will still be swirls and imperfections left in the paintwork.
Two-Step Correction: Now we’re at the level of service that removes 80% or more of imperfections from your paint and really creates that ‘wow’ factor. Whether you have a new or older vehicle, this option is ideal if your paint has a heavy amount of swirls, deep scratches, or clear coat oxidation.
Not sure which option is best for you? Whether you’re prepping a car for sale or restoring a showcar, we’ll help you choose the right level of correction to meet your needs.

Does paint correction remove deep scratches from my paint?
It depends how deep the scratch is on your paint. If it hasn’t gone through the layers of paint on your car, then yes, we should be able to remove it. If the scratch is deep enough to have gone through all the layers of paint (primer, basecoat, clear coat), then we may only be able to reduce the scratch. This is something we won’t be able to know until we get to work and test different methods on it.
How long does a paint correction service take?
The two main factors to how long the service will take is based on the size of the vehicle and the condition of the paint. A heavily swirled Corolla will take longer than a well-taken care of Tundra simply due to the condition (even though the Tundra is much larger). A paint correction job can take between half a day to two days.
What causes swirl marks on car paint?
The biggest culprit to swirls and scratches in your paint is going to be through the washing and drying process. When you use a low quality wash mitt and drying towel, paired with improper techniques, you instill very light fine-scratches that end up looking like cobwebs over time when you look at your car’s paint in the sun.
